Thierry Citron works outdoors on-site. A tireless walker, he is very
aware of eveything that surrounds him, he decides on the theme of his
work by "sudden inspiration". The choice is not a considered
one, it is based on feeling : it is all a matter of sensitivity, of
inner calling, of expression linked spontaneously with the subject matter.
Generally he takes interest in simple and everyday things in life. Scenes
of roads, markets with particulary vibrant atmospheres, musicians in
concert (music plays an important role in his life), and also, the most
frequent are the landscapes which he handles with poetic touch better
than a photograph. In effect, this is the most important characteristic
of his work : all that is semi-abstract takes the token role over realism. On-site, things happen completely naturally. The sun, nature and life show themselves and give birth to creative expression. The vision of reality is manipulated to the preference of the artist. It is he who organises, moves, removes, adds according to the criteria of aesthetics, but he also allows himself to benefit from inner powers, from where the energy comes to nourish these forms, reduced to their very essence. |
